Bursary Programme
What do we offer?
The Shoden Academy (Pty) Ltd. bursary programme has been developed to provide I.T., business, management and entrepreneurial training and education primarily to talented Black graduates with tertiary diplomas in I.T.-related subjects
The programme generally covers a 2 year period. The first year is a holistic work bridging programme and the 2nd year is an internship into an employer with an advanced training program managed by us at the Shoden Academy (Pty) Ltd..
Applicants will be notified via a letter of acceptance should they qualify for our annual intake of sponsored learners.
What does it cost?
Nothing! Full bursaries are available covering all tuition fees, course materials and text books.
But wait – there’s even more… you will receive a monthly subsistence allowance ,
When does it start?
The Shoden Academy work bridging program commences annually in mid-January. Interviews for the 2013 intake will kick off in October 2012.
Organisations who wish to sponsor
Many organisations in the ICT sector experience challenges in compliance with certain elements of the BBBEE scorecard, especially in finding a business connection for the Socio-Economic Development element. There are also challenges in complying with the training requirements of the Skills Development element
We have the perfect solution!
Why not sponsor a learner who has graduated or is about to graduate with an IT diploma for a 1 year work building-block programme? Learners will be trained on a full-time basis in basic IT and work skills – the outcome of which will be that these learners will be able to enter into the working world with confidence and more knowledge and the skills required to practically and easily integrate into the workplace
Training Content:
- 20012 calendar
- Outline of courses and accreditation etc
BBBEE scorecard claim: The training costs and a monthly subsistence allowance will be claimable as SED spend.
- Training Costs
- R57000.00 per annum payable by 1 February 2010
- Subsistence Allowance
- R3700.00 for 1 months ie R40700.00 per year (payable monthly to us which we immediately pay to learner – but which is controlled by us depending on attendance)
This results in a claim against the SED element of R97700.00 per annum
More about SED – as per Interpretative Guide on Scorecard:
Extracts from Interpretative guide – Statement 700 adheres to the principles that socio-economic development initiatives should strive to facilitate access to the mainstream economy for black people .It does so by encouraging socio-economic development contributions linked to improving the financial circumstances of beneficiaries, such as :

Who will be sponsored?
- Either: we will interview and reference check graduates who apply to us and those graduates who we select as the best graduates (fitting both our high standards and your needs for the workplace) we will then propose to you and you can choose which graduate you wish to sponsor.
- Or: you will identify a deserving graduate and request us to interview and ensure that this learner has the potential to successfully achieve competency in the Shoden Academy (Pty) Ltd. Building Blocks programme
